Peoples Emergency Briefing: Wiltshire Film Screenings

Here is a handy list of confirmed community screenings in Wiltshire in chronological order, last updated 25th Oct 2026 but click the link or check the screening map for details. Parliamentary Debate on 16th November

We suggest you ask your MP to attend the Parliamentary Debate on 16th November, after 180,000 people signed the petition. It's worth doing this for all MPs: for those already on board they can say how many constituents wrote to them; for others it might just get them along if there are enough requests. An aim is to get more public communication and encourage the government to take more urgent action.

The film is now being screened by communities, businesses and other organisations - around 5681 on the map as at 1-Nov-2026 including a few abroad. The film is more suitable for general public engagement than the briefings, but does not cover the same detail. It is however a good way of encouraging MPs and decision makers to watch it with you, and they can follow up by looking at the briefings afterwards.

Two key short term actions are recommended at the screenings:

  • write to your MP and other decision makers calling for a national briefing

  • organise more local screenings of the film - for your organisation or community


Email contact@wiltshireclimatealliance.org.uk with details of any other screenings and we can put them on our list above and aim to share a Facebook event and any other social media you have. You can organise your own screening with no licence charge.

It's important to plan a good facilitated discussion afterwards to encourage positive action. Experience so far is that having see the film people are keen to organise more screenings, so organising a small screening for a community group or council can be a good way to start.

It's also very important to capture details for follow-up - see the example postcard used at Cricklade. Postcards for MP messages are also helpful.

​

The recent release by DEFRA of a document titled "Global biodiversity loss, ecosystem collapse and national security" covers some of the ground and provides some official acknowledgement of the situation, and is well worth a read too - it is quite short and readable and contains some clear indications of what needs to happen in the UK food system without being prescriptive. The challenge is to bring people along with what needs to happen, and the briefings and film can help with this.
