Wiltshire Council C19 Recovery Plan - Consultation with WCA Members 14th August 2020 - Report

The workshop took place on 14th August as planned and 49 participants took part. It was very encouraging to see ten Wiltshire Council Officers attend along with five Wiltshire Councillors including the Deputy Leader Cllr. Richard Clewer. The feedback that we have received from those who attended has been very positive indeed.

The suggestions and ideas that came out of the workshop can be seen on the PowerPoint slides that can be downloaded on the link. The report was presented to a meeting of Wiltshire Council's Climate Emergency Task Group on Tuesday 19th August and we are delighted to confirm that some of the suggestions have already been adopted and will result in action being taken. We will monitor progress closely and report back.

A big thank you to all who took part, particularly those who helped to facilitate the workshop

Wiltshire Council C19 Recovery Plan - Consultation with WCA Members 14th August 2020 - 10.00 to 12.00

Over the past few weeks the WCA has been working with Wiltshire Council in order to encourage them to ensure that their Covid-19 recovery plans are as green as possible. We are delighted to announce that WC has agreed to play an active role in a WCA workshop to listen and engage with our members. This now provides us with the opportunity to influence how Wiltshire recovers from the pandemic with the aim of creating a more sustainable future for Wiltshire. We now need your help!

We know that WCA members are passionate about the environment and that you have ideas and suggestions that will help us all achieve a greener future. The aim of the workshop is to work through the themed areas listed below and put forward positive suggestions that Wiltshire Council will be able to incorporate into their plans. There will be a Wiltshire Council subject expert in each of the themed rooms along with a WCA facilitator to enable discussions to be as positive and constructive as possible. Participants will have the opportunity to take part in three of breakout sessions below:

  1. Energy - Paying particular attention to local energy schemes.

  2. Homes – To include building standards, insulation and efficiency.

  3. Raising awareness within the community and leaders

  4. Economy – How Wiltshire can grow in such a way that is conducive to lower carbon output.

  5. Transport issues.

  6. Food production and supply

  7. Biodiversity

The workshop will take place on Friday 14th August 2020 between 10.00 and 12.00. As the workshop will take place on Zoom, we have decided to limit the number of participant to 40 in order to enable the sessions to be as productive as possible. We would encourage people who would like to take part to register as soon as possible. The online workshop registration forms can be found below.

The plans for the workshop continue to develop and updates will be shown our this website.
